Specialised
security capability

Work that sits beyond standard provision: complex environments, unusual exposure, and requirements that need a specific competence rather than a larger team.

01 Scope

Specific problems need specific competence

Most security requirements are met well by standard provision. A minority are not — because the environment is unusual, the exposure is atypical, the jurisdiction is complicated, or the client’s situation does not resemble the assumptions that standard provision is built on.

Those are the requirements this page describes. They are characterised less by danger than by complexity: more variables, less reliable information, and a greater cost attached to getting the assessment wrong.

A prepared specialist team assembled in a cold urban environment, equipment checked before a planned movement.
Complexity, not spectacle

Assessed before acceptance

  • Is it lawful in the jurisdiction concerned?
  • Is it licensable, and are we or our partners licensed?
  • Do we hold the specific competence required?
  • Can personnel be lawfully authorised to work there?
  • Is the insurance position sound?
  • Is the client’s objective itself lawful and proportionate?

A negative answer at any point ends the assessment. We would rather decline than deliver something we cannot stand behind.

02 Capability Areas

Eight areas of specialised work

Advisory and planning disciplines. This page publishes no tactical procedure.

S / 01

Specialist Security Consulting

Advisory work on requirements that fall outside standard provision, where the correct answer depends on detailed understanding of a particular sector, environment or regulatory position.

S / 02

High-Risk Environment Assessment

Structured assessment of environments presenting elevated or uncertain risk, covering local conditions, infrastructure reliability, medical access, legal exposure and realistic withdrawal options.

S / 03

Protective Planning

Detailed planning for protective arrangements: what is being protected, from what, to what standard, at what cost, and how the arrangement will be maintained and reviewed over time.

S / 04

Corporate Security

Organisational security design for complex structures — multiple sites, mixed jurisdictions, contractor populations and inherited arrangements that no longer match the business.

S / 05

Travel Risk

Specialised travel risk work for demanding itineraries: unfamiliar jurisdictions, limited infrastructure, sensitive commercial context or a traveller with elevated personal exposure.

S / 06

Security Audits

Independent audit of existing security arrangements against the stated policy and against credible risk, producing an evidenced findings register rather than a general opinion.

S / 07

Emergency Preparedness

Preparation for serious disruption: decision authority, notification, communication discipline, documentation and rehearsal — built so they function when people are tired and information is incomplete.

S / 08

Specialist Personnel Coordination

Identifying, verifying, contracting and coordinating specialists with a specific competence, including licensed local providers where local presence is legally required.

03 Method

Specialised does not mean improvised. The same framework applies, in greater depth.

How specialised work is run

  • Define the actual question Specialised enquiries often arrive as a proposed solution rather than a problem. The first task is to establish what the client is genuinely trying to prevent, protect or enable.
  • Establish the legal position first Jurisdiction, licensing, work authorisation and insurance are resolved before capability is discussed, because they determine what capability is even relevant.
  • Assess with stated confidence Findings distinguish what we know, what we assess, and what we are assuming — with the assumptions listed so the client can challenge them.
  • Recommend proportionately Recommendations are prioritised and costed. We identify which measures carry most of the benefit, so a client with a limited budget knows where to start.
  • Document for handover Written work is produced so the client can operate it without us, and so a successor can understand why each decision was made.
  • Review against change Specialised assessments date quickly. We set a review point and state what developments should trigger an earlier reassessment.

Content limits

This page describes advisory and planning capability. We do not publish offensive tactical instruction, methods of defeating security measures, surveillance or counter-surveillance technique, weapons handling, or any content that could facilitate violence, unlawful evasion or interference with lawful authority. Requests for such material are declined.

04 Next Step

Bring us the complicated version of the problem

Specialised requirements are best assessed early, while there is still time to change the plan rather than manage its consequences.
